With an average altitude 4,500 meters, Tibet is the plateau region with the highest sea level in the world. It has the highest mountain in the world - Mt. Qomolangma (8,850 meters). Referred as Shangri La, The Forbidden Land and The Roof of the World, Tibet has fascinated mankind for centuries. Famous for its peculiar geological features, magnificent natural scenery, splendid ethnic culture and characteristic local customs and practices, the mysterious Buddhist Kingdom has attracted numerous Chinese and overseas tourists, mountain explorers and scientific surveyors.
